After immigrating from Mexico to the United States, Hector Ortega lived a life of sin and drunkenness before hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Hector repented of his sin, believed in the gospel, and eventually married the individual who first shared Christ with him, his wife Indira. While studying at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary to be trained for full-time ministry, Hector providentially got connected with members at GCV with a heart to send a church planter to Sinaloa, Mexico. In 2018, Hector was commissioned by GCV to serve in Mexico, where he has been pastoring since then. For 7 years, the Ortgas saw the Lord work through their church, Casa De Dios in El Fuerte, then in early 2025, they began a new endeavor to plant a church in Culiacan, Mexico. Hector and Indira have four children.
