THE HURLEY FAMILY ∙ Serving in Uganda

In 2002 Shannon established SOS Ministries. Four years later, he left the corporate world and moved to Uganda to serve the Ugandan people on a full-time basis. Shannon would tell you he’s just a normal guy who finds great joy in serving His King. He’s a proud dad who loves sports and competition, and is the coach of the Kubamitwe United soccer team.

Danielle is Mom to not only their eight children, but is also to the 25+ other young people who live in their home. She manages the important day-to-day details, keeping everyone healthy and happy while Shannon is busy and traveling with ministry responsibilities. Danielle is also involved in bible studies and women’s ministry in the village.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Community Bible Church of Kubamitwe
Pray that God will soften hearts in our community to respond to the gospel and that God would grow his church and make everyone ministers and evangelists.

Shepherds Training College
Pray that God will continue to provide an effective group of gifted, called men to train our pastors. Pray that God will give  wisdom as we build the degree program with professors and training methods.

Church Strengthening
Pray that God would give us wisdom to know how to effectively encourage and strengthen the Baptist Union of Uganda and the Baptist Convention of South Sudan. Pray that God will unify the leadership for Kingdom purposes.

Legacy Christian Academy
Pray that God will continue to raise up teachers who have a passion to shepherd the children of our community and that God would powerfully work in the hearts of these students to know, love, and follow Christ from a young age.

Community Outreach
Pray that God will give us wisdom as we continue to contemplate best strategies for reaching our community and as we separate this ministry from our ministry to those suffering from disabilities.

SOS Medical Clinic
This is a new ministry. Pray that we will set it up to effectively love and care for our community as they suffer from various illnesses and diseases. Pray that we can set a tone of love, compassion, and a powerful gospel message.
